NewSouth NeuroSpine, Mississippi’s Spine Center, is recognized for our outstanding patient care and our staff of well respected and highly trained physicians. Today we would like to introduce to you our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians.
Dr. Rahul Vohra, Dr. David Collipp, and Dr. Michael Winkelmann are specially trained to diagnose the source of a patient’s pain. After ascertaining the source of the pain, they are able to treat and manage the condition at its source. Following NS2’s philosophy of comprehensive care, both decreasing pain and increasing function are the goals of our doctors.
Dr. Rahul Vohra is a native Texan, attending the Baylor College of Medicine where he became interested in musculoskeletal medicine and neurology. Following that interest lead him to specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He also is board certified in pain medicine. Using his experience, Dr. Vohra’s goal is to help a patient regain and maintain the highest level of function possible thus increasing that patient’s quality of life. He also serves as team leader for the division of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Dr. David Collipp was born in Seattle, WA, and raised outside New York City on Long Island. He served in the US Army in Germany for several years before going to college and then medical school at Meharry Medical College. He attended residency in Buffalo, New York, and then moved to Mississippi. He has been in private practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1995, and this has included both inpatient and outpatient activity. Presently, Dr. Collipp is proud to be a member of the NewSouth NeuroSpine team of physicians. His areas of treatment focus on musculoskeletal rehabilitation of disorders of the spine, as well as sports and industrial injuries. He performs electrodiagnostics (nerve testing) and Independent Medical Examinations as needed.
Dr. Michael Winkelmann has traveled the farthest to join the NS2 family. Born in Germany, having been educated and trained in Austria, he now proudly calls Mississippi his home. He enjoys the physical medicine and rehabilitation specialty for the variety of challenges he sees in his patients. His training as an internist adds to his ability to accurately diagnose and treat his patients’ needs. Dr. Winkelmann sees a wide variety of patients in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Additionally, he addresses management of pain, spasticity control, and Botox injections for controlling migraine headaches.
